PBC student artwork honoring MLK to be displayed at Siena College

Nine PBC students will have their artwork displayed at Siena College

(Jan. 13, 2011) Nine Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary students will have their
artwork on display at Siena College as part of the Annual Martin Luther King Art
Invitational.
The exhibition features outstanding student artwork, essays and poetry honoring
Martin Luther King, Jr. The work of the following Pieter B. students is based on
this year's theme, "Civil Rights and the Red, White, Blue and Green: What would
MLK Do to Heal the Earth?"

painted the Migrant Mother, teaching healing the earth thru Pride, Strength,
and Spirit.

Hotaling
painted Freedom of Speech as a method to heal the earth

Alexandra Klercker
and
Griffin Racey Painted Migration #57 healing the earth thru strength
and determination.

Julia
Kowalski
painted Family Dinner depicting solving our problems by sitting
around the dinner table and talking to each other every day.

LaDuke
and Owen Vay painted Paul Revere who taught us to be dedicated to a
cause.

Caitlin Orsino
painted the Barefoot Prodigy which depicts the healing of all problems thru
freedom of expression.

Skyler Wickes
painted the Jester depicting the importance of laughter to heal the earth.
The students and art teacher Kathy Wolfe have been invited to attend a reception
on Friday, January 14 in Siena's Sarazen Student Union to be recognized for
their work. In addition, their artwork will be part of an exhibition displayed
during the 24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King Lecture on
Thursday, April 7 in Siena College's Alumni Recreation Center.
Congratulations to these students, and Mrs. Wolfe, for their accomplishment!
