Hands on Math

The kids and the staff pulled together for an amazing pi day (3/14)!  Kids enjoyed stories, jokes, made creative pictures, participated in challenges, and ate many baked delights.  Here are some photos.  If you get a chance stop by Mrs. Demitraszek's room to see the really creative pictures kids drew using pi and their imaginations.  They are awesome!  And, of course, a HUGE thanks to Mrs. Latter who masterminded and put together all of the supplies for the paper pi-chain challenge.  Mrs. William's classes narrowly beat out Mrs. Wiley's and Mrs. Hayes's classes with a grand total of 3,440 loops (+1 for the 3 in 3.14......).  Excellent work kids!

Final Counts:

1st place:    William's 3,440

2nd place:    Wiley's 3,361

3rd place:     Hayes's 3,200

4th place:    Seeley/Marturano 2,080

5th place:    Latter 425 (+ Bonus 2,000 to 2,500 points for creating supplies throughout the day)
