Lab Safety

Working in the Lab there is always a chance for injury. Students are ultimately responsible for their own safety. Basic instruction for the safe operating of each piece of equipment will be given, however, even being in the lab when any machinery is being used by anyone requires appropriate behavior by everyone.

  • Safety glasses must be worn.
  • Absolutely NO horseplay.
  • Allow at least 4 feet of space around anyone using equipment.
  • Never distract the person using equipment.
  • DO NOT touch any equipment unless you have been given instruction on how to use it safely, including making any adjustments (don't touch any knobs, buttons or leavers unless you've been told by instructor).

Students will never be required to use a piece of equipment they do not feel safe using. They are however required to communicate their need for help to the teacher.

Students behaving inappropriately put everyone at risk and will not be tolerated.
